Research notes
[FS LC7S-K19] Father of PER-000029. Married Catharina Elizabeth LotrietH at BEAUFORT WEST on 19 March 1824 [FS]. Four recorded children: Barend Hendrik (1825, K893-YRV), Anna Maria Magdalena Adriana (1827, MV5T-M97), Aletta Catharina Magdalena Adriana (1830, LC7S-29C) and Gerhardus Francois (1838). The Beaufort West marriage is the earliest fixed point this project has for the family that ended up on Varsche Fontein. ON THIS SITE BECAUSE THEY ARE ON THIS GROUND, not because they are kin: see PER-000029 for what the surname does and does not prove.
These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
Open questions
-
Are the Varsche Fontein Beukes related to Christa's Beukes, or is it only the surname?
priority 2 · LEAD-0123
This project has recorded the Varsche Fontein Beukes as 'a cousin line on Frans's wife's side'. Is there an actual path, or was that inferred from the surname?
What would settle it A shared ancestor with both descents documented, or a demonstration that the two Beukes families are separate at the Cape.
