1892 event The great perdevrekte of 1892 Horse-sickness swept the district: of 95 horses and mules on Kouwveldt (PAR-000088), 14 were left. 'Na hierdie vrekte het die donkie sy tuiste in ons wereld gekry' - the donkey arrived in the Koup's world because the horses died out of it. The diary ranks it with the fall of the ostrich-feather market.
1897 event Kouwveldt sold; the family moves to Droogekloof Ockert Almero Oosthuizen sells Kouwveldt - properly Klein Vallei, PAR-000088 - to Jan Muller and moves his household to his other farm, Droogekloof (PAR-000007). The same year the brandsiekwet came from Rhodes; 'die enigste goeie ding wat hy in Suid-Afrika gedoen het', the diary says, with the district protesting.

[5 Aug 2026 inbox] Portion 10 of Klein Valie No. 182 - a portion OF PORTION 1, Oude Kraal, and unnamed on its own sheet. Diagram 2942/1939, surveyed March 1938 by P.A.H. Melville, approved by the Surveyor-General 18 July 1939. S.G. File S.12396, Survey Records E 875/1939. A WATER PARCEL: the figure abcd sits on the Aaps Rivier with a weir and sloot drawn on it, and the note reads 'the blue lines AB and CD represent the middle of servitude water conduits'. Annexed to Transfer Deed 4072 dated 1 May 1940 in favour of PIETER MATTHEUS JACOBUS LATEGAN AND OTHERS. Original diagram 2115/1912. Confirmed independently by the deduction table on the back of Portion 1's own diagram, which lists Survey Record 5875/1939, diagram 2942/39, Portion 10, 12.0301 morgen, deed 4072/1940.

[13 Aug 2026] Renamed to the one form this model uses for every portion - the portion's own name, then the parent farm, its number and the portion in brackets - so that a name is legible in a list, a search result and a map popup without the reader having to know which farm number is which. It read "Klein Valie Ptn 10 (out of Oude Kraal)" before. Nothing about the ground changed.
