Research notes

[SRC-072] Near present-day Wolseley. Farmed 1709-1747 by PIETER JANSZ SWANEPOEL (PER-000079), who named it for his birthplace in West Flanders. Transferred 26 Oct 1747 to his son-in-law JOHANNES HENDRIK CONRADIE (PER-000082), husband of his daughter Rosa. Still in the same Conradie family at the end of the twentieth century. THIS IS THE FARM WHERE BOTH THE SWANEPOEL AND THE CONRADIE FAMILIES IN SOUTH AFRICA BEGIN - and Frans descends from that couple. The first family farm in the model, 400 km west of the Karoo.
