Research notes

cut from Portion 1 in 1909; deed 1909-83-5218

[13 Aug 2026] Renamed to the one form this model uses for every portion - the portion's own name, then the parent farm, its number and the portion in brackets - so that a name is legible in a list, a search result and a map popup without the reader having to know which farm number is which. It read "Spreeufontein Portion 3 (Lot A)" before. Nothing about the ground changed.

[17 Sep 2026, LEAD-0008] RE-PINNED from RE/3/26 (key ...031, 3,224.6 ha) to 3/26 (key ...030, 5,230.5 ha). Lot A as surveyed is 6,103 morgen 122 sq roods, about 5,227 ha, and 3/26 agrees within 0.1%; RE/3/26 is what was left after Portion 7 (7/26, 2,005.9 ha) was cut from it later, and 3,224.6 + 2,005.9 = 5,230.5. The portion number was the Surveyor-General's all along; the pin had caught the later remainder.
