Research notes
THE FARM No. 1236, PAARL, 184,7427 hectares, figure A.B.C.D.E.F.G., surveyed March-June 1971 and approved 20 December 1971. It comprises the remainder of Nooitgedacht No. 184 and, as figure X.Y.Z.D., THE FARM WITTENBERG No. 185 on diagram 18/1717 (DOC-0426). The note 'The figure x.y.z.D. represents Freehold Land; the Remdr. is Quitrent' separates the 1717 freehold grant from the quitrent ground around it. This is what lets Wittenberg be placed inside 1236 rather than only assigned to it. The i.f.o. field is blank and no owner is named, so the sheet names no person. It is NOT released all the same: leak_tests.py bounds the 11a escape to surveys before 1942, and a 1971 survey is genuinely modern, which is what that bound is for. The transcription publishes; the scan does not.
