An identity number is written at field 1 and is deliberately not transcribed here: it is of no research value and it is not this project's to republish. *** THIS IS THE FIRST KLEU THIS PROJECT HAS FOUND WHO IS ACTUALLY OF ABERDEEN, AND ABERDEEN IS THE ONE PLACE-NAME THE REMHOOGTE GRAVE HAS. *** Both accounts of the shooting of 2 February 1901 describe the dead man as being of, or walking home to, ABERDEEN (PER-000518, GRV-0040). Every other Kleu or Klue this search has produced belongs to the George, Uniondale and Oudtshoorn country, or to the Free State. Here is a Kleu household in Aberdeen itself: she was BORN there in December 1895, six years before the shooting, and died there sixty-seven years later. SHE IS A KLEU BY MARRIAGE, WHICH IS WHAT THE FORM MEANS. 'Kleu (Blignaut)' on this form is married surname with maiden surname after it, so she was born BLIGNAUT and was the widow of a Kleu. Her husband is the connection and he is not named on the form. [TO VERIFY] AND THE TWO SURNAMES ALREADY PAIR ONCE IN THIS PROJECT'S OWN CAPTION INDEX: 'BLIGNAUT Petrus J.J. 1870-1939 & Gertruida M.C. KLEU 1889-1924', at Murraysburg. Different people, same two families marrying, a generation apart. *** NOT A SUSANNA MARIA, AND WORTH SAYING SO. *** Her names are MARIA JOHANNA SUSANNA CATHARINA. She carries both Maria and Susanna, in that order, and she is not the Susanna Maria Klue who took Vaste Water in 1923: that woman held a farm in the Prince Albert district when this one was twenty-seven and living at Aberdeen. But it is the first time the two name-elements have appeared together on a Kleu at all.
