Dat ek die langs-lewende eggenoot is van wyle HESTER PETRONELLA KLUE, gebore PRETORIUS, wat oorlede is op KROONSTAD op die 21ste dag van Februarie 1929. 2. Dat die oorledene se boedel behoorlik afgesluit is en dat, aangesien die oorlewende KIND, gebore uit ons huwelik, mondige jare bereik het, daar dus geen erfporsies van minderjarige kinders is die by die Weesheer verseker moet word nie.' Voor my, Kommissaris vir Ede. *** THIS IS THE FIRST WIFE, AND SHE IS ON NO PROFILE ANYWHERE. *** HESTER PETRONELLA KLUE, born PRETORIUS, died at KROONSTAD on 21 FEBRUARY 1929. FamilySearch MTP1-F92 shows only the 1929 le Roux marriage and no children at all. SRC-609 recorded that he was a wewenaar at sixty; this names her. *** AND IT MOVES HIM OUT OF THE CAPE FOR MOST OF HIS LIFE, WHICH CORRECTS A READING MADE AN HOUR EARLIER. *** SRC-609 gives his residence at the 1929 marriage as KOPJES and this project took that for a farm near Oudtshoorn. It is not. He swears this at KOPJES and gives his address as NOOITGEDACHT, DISTRIK VREDEFORT: that is the ORANGE FREE STATE, and Kopjes, Vredefort and Kroonstad sit within about sixty kilometres of each other. *** THE SEQUENCE IS SEVENTEEN DAYS LONG AND IT IS ALL DOCUMENTED. *** His first wife dies at Kroonstad on 21 February 1929. He swears her estate closed at Kopjes on 7 DECEMBER 1929. He marries Andrina Susanna Magdalena le Roux at DE RUST in the Cape on 24 DECEMBER 1929, seventeen days later, and gives Kopjes as his residence on that register because it still was. *** ONE SURVIVING CHILD OF THE FIRST MARRIAGE, OF AGE BY 1929. *** The affidavit exists precisely to say that no minor's inheritance needs securing with the Weesheer, so the child was over twenty-one and therefore born by about 1908. Nobody holds that person. That is the open end. AND HER ESTATE FILE EXISTS. He swears it was 'behoorlik afgesluit', so there is a wound-up estate for Hester Petronella Klue born Pretorius, Kroonstad, 1929, in the Free State Master's series. It would name the child. He signs J. D. KLUE. Four documents now, all Klue; FamilySearch carries him as Kleu. *** [2 Sep 2026] THERE ARE TWO FAMILYSEARCH PROFILES FOR THIS MAN AND THIS AFFIDAVIT IS WHAT JOINS THEM. *** MTP1-F92 Johannes Diederik KLEU, 1869-1940, son of Joseph Klue and Jacoba Ferreira, married ANDRINA SUSANNA MAGDALENA LE ROUX at De Rust in 1929, NO children, no first wife. G3XX-HMJ Johannes Diederik KLUE, 1879-deceased, NO parents, married HESTER PETRONELLA PRETORIUS (1889-1929, G3HZ-76T) at VREDEFORT, ORANGE FREE STATE on 9 APRIL 1907, one child MARTHA JACOBA KLUE (1908-1944, GD7P-PC8). Neither profile knows about the other. Between them they hold one life: the parents and the second marriage on one, the first marriage and the child on the other. THE AFFIDAVIT IS THE JOIN, AND IT IS NOT AN INFERENCE FROM THE NAME. It is sworn by a Johannes Diederik Klue of NOOITGEDACHT, VREDEFORT who is the surviving spouse of a HESTER PETRONELLA KLUE BORN PRETORIUS who died at KROONSTAD in FEBRUARY 1929, and it is sworn at KOPJES. The De Rust marriage register of seventeen days later gives the bridegroom's residence as KOPJES. One man, two profiles. AND THE CHILD CHECKS OUT ARITHMETICALLY. The affidavit exists to state that the surviving child had reached majority, so that child was twenty-one or over in December 1929 and therefore born by about 1908. MARTHA JACOBA KLUE is born 1908. The document and the profile were written by people who had never seen each other's evidence and they agree. *** WHICH LEAVES ONE DISAGREEMENT: 1869 AGAINST 1879, AND THE DOCUMENTS ARE ALL ON ONE SIDE. *** b. 23 December 1869 at Buffelsklip, per MTP1-F92 Oudtshoorn lidmaten register, admitted 19 April 1889, OUD 20 (SRC-608) -> about 1869 De Rust marriage register, 24 December 1929, ouderdom 60 (SRC-609) -> about 1869 Death registration 92/40, 15 February 1940, ouderdom 70 (SRC-610) -> about 1869 or 1870 G3XX-HMJ's 1879 has nothing behind it that this project has seen. Three independent clerks, across fifty-one years, put him in 1869. WHAT WOULD FALSIFY THE MERGE, and it should be looked at before anybody merges the two profiles on FamilySearch: the VREDEFORT MARRIAGE REGISTER OF 9 APRIL 1907. If it gives his age as about twenty-eight, the 1879 has a document behind it after all and the possibility of two men of one name in one district reopens. If it gives about thirty-seven, the matter is closed. [TO VERIFY] *** [3 Sep 2026] WHY A KOPJES AFFIDAVIT SITS IN THE OUDTSHOORN MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES. FRANS: 'there could be a kopjes in oudsthoorn - or it was just filed there.' IT WAS JUST FILED THERE, AND THE FILING IS THE POINT. *** The image is item 14, image 318 of 341, of film #007732115, 'Oudtshoorn. Marriage Certificates 1929'. This is not a stray: A REMARRYING WIDOWER HAD TO DECLARE THAT THE FIRST ESTATE WAS WOUND UP AND THAT NO MINOR'S INHERITANCE NEEDED SECURING WITH THE WEESHEER, and that declaration was lodged with the marriage papers. He swore it WHERE HE LIVED, at Kopjes, on 7 December 1929, and it was filed WHERE HE MARRIED, at De Rust in the district of Oudtshoorn, SEVENTEEN DAYS LATER (SRC-609, marriage 93 of 24 December 1929). *** THE KOPJES IS THE ORANGE FREE STATE ONE AND NOTHING IN THE RECORD ALLOWS THE OTHER READING. *** He declares himself of NOOITGEDACHT, DISTRICT VREDEFORT; his first wife died at KROONSTAD; in 1907 he was farming at ROODEWAL, DISTRICT KROONSTAD (SRC-612); and the 1929 marriage register gives his residence at the time of the marriage as KOPJES. Kopjes lies on the Renoster between Vredefort and Kroonstad and every one of those places is within an hour of it. The only Kopjes this project holds in the Cape is KOPJES KRAAL No. 123, which is in the PRINCE ALBERT division and not Oudtshoorn at all. *** AND THE FILING IS EVIDENCE, NOT ADMINISTRATION: IT TIES THE FREE STATE MAN TO THE DE RUST MAN IN ONE DOCUMENT. *** The whole 'are there two Johannes Diederik Klues' question turned on whether the Vredefort farmer of the 1907 marriage and the De Rust man who died at Oudtshoorn in 1940 were the same person. This sheet is sworn by the Vredefort man and filed in the Cape marriage that makes him the De Rust man. THEY ARE ONE MAN. Which leaves the 1907 register's 'age 28' as the outlier against the 1929 register's SIXTY, the 1940 death registration's SEVENTY and the De Rust headstone's 1869-1940 - three documents for about 1869 against one for about 1879. A man of thirty-seven marrying an eighteen-year-old and giving his age as twenty-eight is the ordinary explanation and it is a reading, not a finding. [TO VERIFY]
