Transcribed as read: declared by Jacob Wijker, [?barbier], 59, and Gerrit Buis, gemeente-arbeider, 56, both of Egmond aan Zee: that on 12 July 1924, in the morning at one, at Egmond aan Zee, Noorderstraat number thirty, died TRIJNTJE HOTTENTOT, aged EEN EN NEGENTIG JAAR, van beroep [?zonder], GEBOREN TE DEN RIJP, living at Egmond aan Zee, WEDUWE VAN ADRIAAN BRUIJN, daughter of the late couple PIETER HOTTENTOT and AAFJE [?KELKEN]. | HOTTENTOT IS THE SURNAME AS WRITTEN, twice, plainly - a rare but genuine Noord-Holland family name; recorded exactly, per 5a note 6. | WHY SHE IS IN THIS RECORD: born about 1833 at DE RIJP, the same village where HUBERTUS BRUIJN (PER-000764, LV6B-8PZ) was born on 23 February 1855 before he emigrated and died at Calvinia in 1929 - the van der Merwe line's Bruijn branch (Kittie Bruijn, PER-000220, is his daughter). A widow Bruijn of De Rijp of exactly his mother's generation: recorded as his PROBABLE mother, medium confidence, until a birth or marriage record names her son. This is the head of the Bruijn trail in the Netherlands and it stays bounded, per 9a - her own parents are named here and get no rows.
