THE ENTRY: 'ANNA JACOBA. De Vader is JACOBUS ADRIAAN LOUW. De Moeder MARIA ELISABETH LOUW. getuigen Jan Abraham K[eller?] en MARIA LOUW. behoort onder 't ZWARTLAND. den 24 November.' | IT AGREES WITH THE DEATH NOTICE ON THE PARENTS and differs on the mother's name in the ordinary way: the register writes MARIA ELISABETH, the notice MARIA CATHARINA ELIZABETH. This project holds her as PER-001769, Maria Elisabeth Louw, whose estate inventory was taken at Lokenburg on 2 August 1823. | 'BEHOORT ONDER 'T ZWARTLAND' is the useful line. The child was born in the Bokkeveld and the family belonged to the ZWARTLAND congregation at Malmesbury, which is the same pattern S035 already describes for the Hantam - a household hundreds of kilometres from the church that baptised it. It is evidence about the reach of a congregation, not about where the family lived. | *** AND IT PUTS THE LOUWS IN THE BOKKEVELD IN 1793. *** The death notice gives her birthplace as BOKKEVELD, DIST. CALVINIA, and Matjesfontein No. 791 lies in the FIELDCORNETCY OF UNDER BOKKEVELD, surveyed in 1834 for Daniel Jacobus Louw Senior (SRC-477). Anna Jacoba's people were Bokkeveld Louws. That is a convergence of country and surname, and it is still not a relationship - neither document names Daniel Jacobus. LEAD-0151.
