CONSULTED 17 Aug 2026 at Frans's question, "was there an olifants rivier in this region". THERE IS, AND IT RISES IN THIS DISTRICT. The Southern Cape Olifants "has its origins in the TRAKA and Kalkwal Rivers north of the Swartberg", runs east to west between the Swartberg and the Kammanassie, through Toorwaterpoort and Oudtshoorn, and joins the Gamka to form the Gouritz. | THE TRAKA IS THIS PROJECT'S OWN RIVER. PLC-000042, the river Rondabel lies on, the field cornetcy PLC-000022 named on the Vrolykheid diagram, and the place the 1818 baptism was held "aan onder Traca". So the Koup drains south into the Gouritz by way of a river called the Olifants, and a farm "gelegen aan d'Olifants rivier" is not on the face of it necessarily the Citrusdal one. | Tertiary and geographic rather than archival; used to test a reading, not to establish a fact.
