Verbatim: 'wanneer men begrijpt dat 'er wel HONDERT EN MEER PLAATSEN VERLATEN EN ONBEWOOND ZIJN weegens de onveiligheid der Bosjesmans, zoo als 'T GANSCHE NIEUWE VELD DE COUP een gedeelte van de SNEEUWBERGEN de TARKA, welke plaatsen wel vas weeder betrokken en bewoond zullen werden, zoo dra de Ingeseetenen maar zien, dat...' THIS IS THE KOUP IN THE FIFTY YEARS BETWEEN THE FIRST LOAN FARMS AND THE 1841 GRANTS, and it is not a picture of settled occupation. The same document describes raiders holding the road at the Chamka - the Gamka - for two days against an armed party. It bears directly on how this project reads its own gap: loan places taken up from about 1777 and titles fixed in 1841, with abandonment on this scale in between. It does NOT say which places, and none of this project's parcels is named anywhere in the 1777-1795 resolutions, so nothing here attaches to a particular farm. [TO VERIFY]
