The citation as it was given

Verbatim: 'terwijl echter de Persoonen JACOBUS OORTUIJZEN, Nicolaas Haarhof, Johannes Cornelis Barhauzen, Gerrit van Rooijen en DE WED: SWANEPOEL bereids zyn ontbooden om de van hun gevorderd Verklaaringen te doen passeeren en na gedaan recollement beeedigen', reported from 'Zwellendam'. OORTUIJZEN IS ALMOST CERTAINLY A SPELLING OF OOSTHUIZEN and is recorded here as the register wrote it, per 5a note 6. Two surnames this project holds, at Swellendam, in the last year of Company rule. It says nothing about which people they are and nothing about land - it is recorded so the names are searchable and datable, not as a finding. [TO VERIFY]

Kept verbatim. This project contradicts published genealogies and corrects a family's own oral tradition, so every claim has to be checkable by someone who was not in the room.
