The citation as it was given

FULL CITATION supplied by [FAMILY] South Africa, Dutch Reformed Church Registers (Cape Town Archives), 1660-1994,. database with images, FamilySearch (ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSK6-T996-Z : 13 August 2024), image 1 of 1; State Archives, Cape Province. THE PAGE HEADER NAMES THE CONGREGATION: page 458 is ruled "DOOP REGISTER." with "Prins Albert." written in beside it. THAT IS THE TRICK FOR SRC-076 - the 1786 register may well carry its congregation at the head of the page in the same way, even though the FamilySearch citation does not. Worth a look at the top of that image. Entry 59, baptised 10 February 1878: "Almero Jacobus Hitge, geb 18 Jany 78. Vader: Ockert Almero Oosthuizen. Moeder: Aletta Catharina Maria Helena Hitge. Getuigen: Nicolaas Cornelis van den Hoven, Fredrika Johanna Oosthuizen, George Joseph Roy Hitge."

Kept verbatim. This project contradicts published genealogies and corrects a family's own oral tradition, so every claim has to be checkable by someone who was not in the room.
