The citation as it was given
FULL CITATION supplied by [FAMILY] South Africa, Cape, Probate Records of the Master of the High Court, 1822-1990,. database with images, FamilySearch (ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSQF-CS4K-D : 27 April 2020), 007844939 > image 1888 of 2166; Pietermaritzburg Archives (Formerly Natal State Archives), South Africa. NOTE the repository line: FamilySearch attributes the film to the Pietermaritzburg archives although the collection and the record are CAPE. That is a cataloguing artefact of where the microfilm sits, not a sign the record is misfiled - but anyone ordering the original from an archive should go to the Western Cape Archives (KAB) for MOOC, not to Pietermaritzburg. Answers what the death notice gives: died 26 Feb 1859 in his own house at Prince Albert, aged 72y 10m 2d, landbouwer, widower, thirteen children named. | [5 Aug 2026] FILE CLEARED. This row claimed 'sources/civil/DOC-0058-death-notice-1859-ockert-almero.jpg', a path that does not exist and, per the 1 Aug source-file audit recorded on DOC-0058, MUST NOT exist: this is a FamilySearch-held image, cited and linked by its ark and not republished here. The documents side of that correction was made and the sources side was not, so a reader following sources.csv got a dead path and checks.py's orphan sweep would have counted a file of that name as WANTED if one ever landed. The url field above is the citation.
Kept verbatim. This project contradicts published genealogies and corrects a family's own oral tradition, so every claim has to be checkable by someone who was not in the room.
