THE MAN THE NAME COMES FROM. Of Thourout - Torhout - in Flanders, captain of the Danish vessel Forsoget. Married Jeane Francoise 'Sanet' Duminy (PER-000815) on 26 April 1800; the marriage had NO CHILDREN, and she remarried Marthinus Laurentius Neethling in 1829 and had none by him either. He is here for one reason and it is a good one: his wife's nephew, born 22 August 1818, was christened FRANCOIS JEAN VAN HELSLANDT DUMINY (PER-000567) - Francois for the grandfather, Jean van Helslandt for the childless uncle by marriage who was then still alive. The name then ran three further generations in this family (1853, 1884, and again), and until this was traced this project could not say where it had come from. It is a memorial, not a descent: NOBODY IN THIS PROJECT DESCENDS FROM HIM. [SRC-071]
