[SRC-072] Grandson of PER-000086. Shopkeeper on Kommetjieskraal (Venterskraal) - the marriage register of 19 Jun 1899 gives his occupation as winkelier van Venterskraal. Nicknamed Freek Jood, a name inherited from his father Piet Jood. Married three times. Buried on Venterskraal.

The Star of David on a Swanepoel headstone, and the winkelier called 'Jood'

The 2003 thesis records an unexplained Star of David on the 1898 headstone of a Swanepoel wife, and prints, rows apart, that her husband was the farm winkelier nicknamed 'Jood' - a name he inherited from his father. Are the star and the nickname one fact, and which way does it resolve?
