The coordinate and the cemetery number are eGGSA’s own, read off the album page and converted from the degrees and decimal minutes it carries. Nobody from this project has been to the place. eGGSA album “0223007 Grafte by Jakhalsfontein Klein Uitspanning _Pieter Olckers”, PRINCE-ALBERT-Rural collection, GGSA cemetery 7477. The album is already cited here as SRC-320, recorded on 7 August 2026 when its coordinate was put onto the farm and no burial-ground row was made. [10 Sep 2026] The farm in the paragraph above was Karee Rivier No. 143 (PAR-000101), and it was the wrong farm. Karee Rivier is farm 143 of the Willowmore registration division and lies 123 km east of here. This cemetery is on farm 143 of the Prince Albert division: the same number on a different farm. Karee Rivier's note is corrected, and this ground was never linked to it. [16 Sep 2026] WHERE 'JAKHALSFONTEIN' IN THIS NAME COMES FROM IS NOT KNOWN. The album title is eGGSA's, and this project copied it. Pieter Olckers, who photographed this cemetery and sent the pictures and the coordinates to eGGSA, says he does not know how Jakhalsfontein came to be attached to it. As far as he knows Jakhalsfontein lies two farms further on, and he suspects it is Kareeboom Kuil, Laingsburg No. 121, where there is a fountain: the only one he has found in the area. The coordinate does fall on Klein Uitspanning No. 143, and the 1915 divisional map prints this ground as KLEIN UITSPANNING, held by J. H. Hattingh from 13 September 1894, with no Jakhalsfontein beside it. The only Jakhals Fontein that map prints is RATEL FONTEIN ALIAS JACKHALS FONTEIN, about 29 km north, today Ratelfontein No. 74. Kareeboom Kuil, 15 km west, lies beyond the edge of that map. LEAD-0350.
