Navorsingsnotas
[DIAGRAM] Held KLIPGAT No. 114, 21,379 morgen in the Gouph field cornetcy, division of Prince Albert. Named on SG Dgm 1200/1911 (DOC-0158) in the Surveyor-General's certificate: the amended title of 24 Sept 1911 was issued "in favour of the Estate of the late Lucas Daniel Fromon van Zyl", so he was dead by that date, which is the basis for the death bound of ../1911. In 1916 the farm was cut into ten near-equal shares on consecutive deeds, which reads as his estate being divided among heirs. [TO VERIFY] against the 1916 transfer deeds and his death notice, which would name them. THIRD VAN ZYL LANDHOLDER FOUND IN THIS DISTRICT IN ONE DAY, alongside Casper van ZylMe Senior of Modderdrift No. 106 (1833) and, next door to Modderdrift, the van Veurens. Whether these van Zyls connect to each other or to the Brandfort line of S018 is not established and is not asserted. See LEAD-0057. [1 Aug 2026]
[FS, 5 Aug 2026] IDENTIFIED. FamilySearch LZ25-N79, Louis Daniel Francois van ZylH, 1832-1900, married Emerentia Isabella Meiring (2CT1-YZH, 1833-1915) at MOSSEL BAY on 4 December 1854, twelve children. The dates fit the land record exactly: he is dead by the amended title of 24 Sept 1911, which is where this row's '../1911' bound came from, and 1900 sits inside it. NAME: the FamilySearch form is used per 5a-i. DOC-0158's title certificate reads 'Lucas Daniel Fromon van Zyl' and that transcription stands in the document row - but the Klipgat PORTION diagrams already read 'LOUIS DANIEL FRANCOIS VAN ZYL', so the model's own two sources disagreed and FamilySearch settles which is the man. TWO OF HIS SONS TOOK KLIPGAT PORTIONS in the 1916 estate division - see PER-001441 and PER-001442. His wife is not given a row here; she carries no tie to this ground.
These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.

Three van Zyl landholdings in this district, and whether they connect
prioriteit 1 · LEAD-0057
Are Casper van ZylMe Senior of Modderdrift No. 106 (1833), Lucas Daniel Fromon van Zyl of Klipgat No. 114 (d. by 1911), and the Brandfort van Zyls of S018 one family?
Wat dit sou uitmaak A death notice or estate account that puts two of these three men in one descent. Ten named heirs from the 1916 deeds would be the fastest route, because ten names are far easier to match against the tree than one.

The record stops in 1916 and never resumes
second order · B2 trail-ends
Klipgat Nr. 114 was worked as far as 1916, with Louis Daniel Francois van ZylH the last owner on record. 110 years follow with nothing. Who held it after that, and is it still one farm?
What would settle it The current title deed traced backwards, each transfer names the one before it, or the Surveyor-General's subdivision diagrams, which are what usually explain a farm going quiet.
Found by breaks.py reading the model against itself, not written by hand,
each one is a shape of missing record, not a fault in the data.
The whole set is on the
