[7 Aug 2026] THE SURNAME IS NOT A STRANGER TO THIS FAMILY, WHICH IS NOT THE SAME AS IDENTIFYING HIM. A NIEHAUS family married into Frans's own Zulch line: Magdalena Frederica Zulch (1823), sister of his direct ancestor Isabella Johanna Jacoba ZulchM (PER-000756), married BERNHARDUS GYSBERTUS JOHANNES GERRIT NIEHAUS (1821-1876) - so the Niehaus are AFFINAL to this family, one step off the ancestral line, exactly as the Swanepoels are. Their mother was NEELTJE JOHANNA STORM, married at Paarl 7 August 1813. 'Jacob A.' matches no Niehaus given-name pattern seen in that family, whose sons are Bernhardus, Petrus Jacobus Mohr, Willem Nicholas Hendrik, Hendrik Willem StormM and Paulus Eduard Johannes. He stays UNIDENTIFIED [TO VERIFY]. Buying four morgen of Spreeufontein in 1909 puts him on this ground, which is why he is here. LEAD-0124.

Wat dit sou uitmaak THE LIQUIDATION AND DISTRIBUTION ACCOUNT OF MAGDALENA STORM BORN BOTES, died Prince Albert 10 April 1884. Her death notice says she left IMMOVEABLE PROPERTY to be 'all sold immediately and the account filed'. That account names the land. It is now the single most direct route to whether the Storms held ground on or near Varsche Fontein. Failing that, the estate papers of her husband, died Prince Albert 19 August 1855.
