ENTRY 439 IS THE ONE THAT WAS ASKED FOR: 'oosthuizen / P: Corn: Jun: / M: Swanepoel'. The abbreviation is 'P: Corn:' with 'Jun:' after it - not 'Cornz' - so a Pieter Cornelis JUNIOR, and the private tree and FamilySearch (LH2T-JRD) have exactly him: Pieter Cornelis Oosthuizen, born 18 Feb 1788, son of Pieter Cornelis (PER-000242) and Petronella Hermina Kok, married Magdalena Susanna Swanepoel at Swellendam in October 1807, died 7 Dec 1842. LEAD-0232's 'P: Corn:' reading was right and its identification was one generation out. THE LANDERIJEN LEAF (image 343), rows counted from the transport line: the first ruled row (436, Gerrit Olivier) carries three lines - '1 [?Hemme]kraal agter de Platte kloof', 'de Willige hout rivier en de [?kuil]', '2 [?...]rivier aan de Zwartberg' - at 12 and 13 uuren, Landbouw and Veeteelt; the fourth ruled row (439) reads '1 de Buffelsvallij gel: als boven', 14 uuren, Veeteelt, written in the In Leening sub-columns, with the count figures 79 | 10 | 15000 | 1 1/2 | 1 | 2 to its left under headers not yet read. 'Als boven' points at the Zwartberg of the row above. WHAT THE HOURS SAY: the three Ladismith farms of the previous opening (SRC-521) calibrate the column at about five kilometres to the hour, so 14 uuren is the Klein Karoo under the range the Swellendam papers of 1832-38 call the Groote Swarteberg (Voorbaat, Buffelsfontein, Buffel Rivier Poort: DOC-0328 to DOC-0330), and NOT the De Rust farm of the same name, which is about 43 hours out. The alignment of the rows after 439 is LEAD-0366; the farm's polygon is LEAD-0365. A correction to SRC-482 follows from the same viewing: its 'entries 182-188' are 482-488, on image 344.
