DEPUTY FIELD CORNET FOR THE KOUP from 1818 [SRC-694]. Mossop prints a confidential report of 8 December 1827, on a list of Field Cornets and Officers under Landdrost Harding of Beaufort, crediting him with nine years and one month of very good service and noting that he did not speak English. Son of Diederik Kruger; married Anna Catharina van Eck, who died before 9 July 1846. HE IS HERE BECAUSE HE ADMINISTERED THIS GROUND, not because of kinship - 6 admits people related to the land. He fills a decade the model had empty between Samuel de BeerM, field cornet about 1813, and Matthys Andries de BeerM in 1833-34. [TO VERIFY] no record of him has been read here beyond Mossop.
[27 Sep 2026] THERE IS A SECOND PIETER ERNST KRUGER AND THEY MUST NOT BE MERGED. SRC-695 carries a Pieter Ernst KrugerH born 13 February 1827 at Beaufort-Wes, christened there 3 September 1827, who married Zacharia Jacomina Snyders at PRINS ALBERT on 26 December 1867. This row is the man Mossop makes Deputy Field Cornet for the Koup in 1818, born 8 December 1787 - forty years earlier. 9: never match a person by name alone. The younger man is the more interesting one for this district, because he marries a Snyders at Prince Albert while an older Snyders was holding de Drift in Koup - LEAD-0376.
