Her estate holds three loan places: ELANDS JAGT 'gelegen in 't Nieuwe Veld aan de Kromme Rivier' at Rd 200; a place actually NAMED OLIPHANTS RIVIER 'gelegen aan de Bosjesmans Rivier' at Rd 200; and WELGELEGEN 'aan de Kromme Rivier aan de andere zyde van 't Goede G[eloof]'.
Daughter of GERHARDUS OOSTHUIJZEN (PER-000298) by Magdalena Neef, who is not in this model - so a first cousin of Ockert. Death date is the inventory date. [TO VERIFY]
[2026-09-23, SRC-687] HER ESTATE READ IN FULL, MOOC8/50.40a-b: seven children named; 614 cattle, 1010 sheep, 26 horses; eight enslaved people named on the sheet; net Rd 7626:36, the largest Oosthuizen estate held here. Her brother Gerhardus and a Marthinus Oosthuijzen appraised. The three places are on the Kromme Rivier 'in 't Nieuwe Veld' and the Bosjesmans Rivier east of the Gamtoos, not the Beaufort West Nieuweveld. DOC-0384, INV-0048.

DOC-0384 (MOOC8/50.40a and 50.40b, 1788-10-10) lists a household's whole movable estate, which means officials went to where that household lived. It says “three loan places: de Elands Jagt in 't Nieuwe Veld aan de Kromme Rivier; a place named de Oliphants Rivier aan de Bosjesmans Rivier; Welgelegen aan de Kromme Rivier 'aan de andere zyde van 't Goede Geloof'” and no more. No parcel is attached, so the family it describes sits nowhere on the map.
What would settle it The inventory's own heading usually names the farm and the field-cornetcy; where it does not, the deceased's quitrent or opgaaf entry for that year will. This is the shape that produced the de Bruin/Rondabel find.
