NOT AN ANCESTOR - A COUSIN, and the join is the stamvader himself. His de Villiers code is b1c4d7e3, so he descends from the progenitor's eldest son GERHARDUS (b1); Frans descends from the youngest, JACOBUS (b8, PER-000230). The two lines part at the founder's children and do not meet again. [SRC-098] On 16 FEBRUARY 1838, at Van Rensburg's laager, days after Piet Retief's party was killed and the Bloukrans and Weenen attacks, the defenders ran out of powder. He rode straight through an estimated 1,500 Zulu warriors, took powder and ball off a wagon and rode back through them again.
