Afrikaans naming repeats hard, and the Cape Dutch naming pattern reuses a name on purpose, a child who died young has the name given again to a later sibling. These are different people. Never match on a name alone.

Navorsingsnotas

[SRC-073] Married Jacobus Daniel Johannes OosthuizenH (PER-000004) at Prince Albert 14 Jun 1847. Daughter of FREDERIK SIMON MOCKE and Aletta Catharina RouxM - WHICH IS WHERE THE NAME COMES FROM. Their son Frederik Simon OosthuizenH (PER-000006), who built the Zeekoegat church, was named for his mother's father. Died at Cape Town.

29 Jul 2026 [TREE]: THE MOCKE BRIDGE - married (1) Charles Frederick HitgeL 1843 (UNI-000039), widowed Jul 1846; (2) J.D.J. Oosthuizen of Middelwater (UNI-000040). She carried the Hitge children into the Middelwater household, linking title-holder Hitge's line to the Oosthuizens a generation before Aletta's 1863 marriage.

30 Jul 2026 [FS]: FamilySearch LC5D-JQ3, shown 1820-1883 - CONFLICTS with the tree's death 3 Dec 1885. Kept 1885-12-03 pending a register; FS user data loses to the more specific date [TO VERIFY].

30 Jul 2026 [SRC-127/DOC-0087] HER DEATH NOTICE READ: born in CAPE TOWN; parents FREDRICK SIMON MOCKE & ALETTE ROUX (primary confirmation); 'Farmer's Wife'; died AT THE FARM EZELSFONTEIN, 'DISTRICT ALBERT' [most plausibly clerk's shorthand for Prince Albert, but no Ezelsfontein survives in the Prince Albert cadastre - LEAD-0013]; and SHE LEFT A WILL ('Will, will shown') - her estate file exists and is findable. THE DEATH DATE: the notice writes 'June 1883' but its own age field (65y 10m 11d, from 14 Jan 1820) computes to ~25 Nov 1885 - eight days from the tree's 3 Dec 1885 - and John Peter (b.1863) is not marked among the minors, which fits a post-1884 death. death_edtf kept at 1885-12-03; FamilySearch's 1883 appears to be an indexing of this notice's slip [TO VERIFY: the will/estate file]. Children as listed: daughters Adriana Cecilia, Sophia Johanna [see PER-000373 date conflict], Fredrica Johanna, and ALETTA MARIA HELENA HITGE - her Hitge daughter counted among her children, THE MOCKE BRIDGE IN A PRIMARY DOCUMENT; sons Ockert Almero, Fredrick Simon, John Peter, Peter Marincowitz (minor).

30 Jul 2026 [SRC-128] HER GRANDPARENTS FOUND IN THE MOOC CORPUS: inventory MOOC8/36.35 (8 Oct 1821) is the estate of SOPHIA REBECCA PLAGMAN, widow of JOHAN GODFRIED MOCKE, and lists their son FREDRIK SIMON MOCKE - her father per her own death notice (DOC-0087). So she was named, by vernoeming, for her grandmother Sophia, who died the year after she was born. The inventory lists ten Mocke children and their spouses - a full generation of the Mocke line in one document [TO VERIFY the link by her father's baptism].

[2 Aug 2026, SRC-200] TWO MARRIAGES, AND THE FIRST IS NOW DOCUMENTED. The Beaufort West baptism register has her with CHARLES FREDERIK HITGES baptising a son NICOLAAS FREDERIK, born 3 Aug 1844, at BWB-299-06 - witnesses Nicolaas Hitjes, GEROLAMO MARINCOWITZ, Hester Carolina Hitges, ANNA MOCKE and CHRISTIAAN MOCKE. Hitge died 1846; she then married Jacobus Daniel Johannes OosthuizenH (PER-000004) and F.S. 'Oom Frikkie' Oosthuizen (PER-000006) was born to that marriage in 1856. NICOLAAS FREDERIK IS THEREFORE FRIKKIE'S HALF-BROTHER, twelve years older, and is not yet a person record here. The entry also puts Marincowitz in a Hitge baptism in the year our model says he married into that family.

These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
