The estate account of Ockert Oosthuijzen, inventoried on de Modder Fonteyn on the Olifants River on 23 April 1809, carries under its assets a debt from his eldest son: 'den burger Jacobus Johannes Oosthuizen, over koop van de plaats de Modder Fonteyn', Rd 1,000, with the later entry 'den 11 Dec:r 1810 in mindering betaald Rd:s 344'. So the farm did not go to the heirs in common: the eldest son bought it out of the estate, and on this date had paid 344 rixdollars and still owed 656. It was a loan place, so what he bought was the opstal and the right to occupy (OWN-000051). The sale itself is undated in the account and falls between the inventory and this payment. This is the last trace of Jacobus Johannes on de Modder Fonteyn in the record so far. By 1823 the George opgaafrol has a Modder Fontyn in the Olifants River country held IN ERFPACHT by Salomon Terblans (SRC-638); a Terblanche, Ignatius Wilhelm ter Blanche, had bought goods at this estate in 1809.
