*** THE PATRONYMIC IS WHY THIS IS CERTAIN. *** The estate is of Maria Johanna Theron, 'ten voordeele van haar naargelatene man den landb: SCHALK WILLEMSZ: VAN DER MERWEN ISAAKSZ:' - son of Isaak, which is PER-001657 and is NOT the Schalk Willems van der Merwen PIETERSZ: of MOOC8/16.15 who held Leeuwen Fontijn. Two men of that name, born about two years apart, and the patronymic is the only thing that separates them (SRC-698 records how that trap was set). IT CONFIRMS A PARENTAGE THE MODEL HELD AT MEDIUM. The closing attestation reads 'Wij hier ondergeteekende bekennen deese volgende goederen in den boedel van ONSEN ZOON Schalk Willemsz: van der Merwen Isaaks zoon bevonden te hebben', signed ISAACK VAN DER MERWEN and JAN THERON - the two fathers, calling him jointly their son. PER-001823 as father of PER-001657 rested on SRC-411, a FamilySearch id match; it now rests on a signature. A DAUGHTER THIS PROJECT DID NOT HOLD: 'haar bij haar evengem: man in huwelijk verwekte dogter, met naame MARIA CICILIA VAN DER MERVE oud vier maanden' - so born about October 1756. AND THE ANSWER TO WHY NO FARM IS RECORDED. The whole estate: 73 beesten, 200 schaapen, 9 paarden, 'deesen ONBELASTEN boedel' totalling Rd 300. NO OPSTAL, NO PLAATS, NO LAND OF ANY KIND. At about twenty-two he was a stockman with no fixed place to record, which is why the marriage banns record none either - and the parents signed at the BOKKEVELT, which is the district, not a farm. Compare the Pietersz cousin, who held Leeuwen Fontijn in that same Bokkeveld: both branches were there, which is part of why they get confused. Inventoried by 'de meede landb: ISAAK VAN DER MERWEN en JAN THERON'. Jan Theron is very probably her father - 'onsen zoon' from two signatories reads as father and father-in-law - but the document does not say so and no row is created for him.
