Supplied by [FAMILY] The opening and the roll's 'Detail of item numbers' card ('Cont from another roll, roll number 79'; items 4-8 are Paarl baptisms).. The card shows which register this roll holds; that this opening is item 8 follows from its dates and families, not from a waypoint [TO VERIFY with the image number]. THE ENTRY, page 42, between 13 April and 25 May 1755: '[?4] Maij | LOUIS | v. Louis van Wyk | m. Hester de Jager | g. Adriaan van Wyk, en Sara Fourie'. The day is written with the scribe's hooked figure; it is read as 4, and 1 is possible. FamilySearch (L8RR-TXJ) and the tree give 9 May; nothing on the page supports a 9, which this hand writes looped (as in '29 Maart'). The date field keeps ../1755-05-09 until the day is settled; the sequence on the page proves only 13 April to 25 May 1755. IT CORRECTS DE VILLIERS (SRC-656), which gives this baptism as 9 May 1753: the year is 1755. THE GODPARENTS ARE THE CHILD'S PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS, Adriaan van Wyk and Sara Fourie (the parents of PER-002072 in the tree). The same opening baptises children of Coert Grobbelaar x Maria Catharina Kloppers (witnesses Willem Prinslo, Elisabeth Kloppers, Cornelis and Catharina Grobbelaar), Jacobus Jantze van Rensburg x Maria Catharina Botha, and Pieter le Roux x Susanna Erasmus. Grobbelaar, Klopper and Prinslo are three of the families in the George Olifants ward of 1823 (SRC-638). They are noted as names, not as kin. | [17 Sep 2026] DAY SETTLED: My reading of the figure as 4 (possibly 1) came from the image as supplied in chat and is withdrawn. So the baptism is 9 May 1755, and the only error in De Villiers' '9 Mei 1753' is the year.
