WHY THIS EXISTS. After the Northern Cape sweep (SRC-389) Frans looked at the map and asked why there were so few burial grounds south of Beaufort West. The answer was that this project had only ever pulled THREE Western Cape collections - Prince Albert rural and urban and Beaufort West rural - and eGGSA has 156. The gap was ours. SCOPE: the twenty-one collections in the Karoo and its immediate neighbours, not the province. Cape Town, Agulhas, Gansbaai and the rest are nothing to do with this record. 411 album pages, 367 of them carrying a coordinate. Same method and the same trap as the Northern Cape: the collection index truncates each description and the coordinate is on the ALBUM page, in DEGREES AND DECIMAL MINUTES rather than decimal degrees. IT REACHES GROUND THIS PROJECT IS ACTUALLY ABOUT. There is a KLAARSTROOM collection, a MERWEVILLE one, a LEEU-GAMKA one and two for LAINGSBURG, none of which this record had ever opened, and Beaufort West URBAN, which it had not either. Laingsburg rural alone holds 23 farm cemeteries and Ladismith 38. This row was first written as SRC-415, which was already the Brasse Fontein Portion 1 diagram. The build's duplicate-id gate caught it before anything was published.
