Twelve children between 1873 and 1895: Peter Egbert 1873 (LKFX-BYX), Maria Elizabeth Magdalena 1874 (LKFF-MSG), JOHANNES PAULUS 1876-1902 (LKFF-938), Alfred William 1879 (LKFF-9Z4), Esther Margaret 1880 (GDFF-HBG), Henry 1883-1916 (KJ4Y-1QH), Charles Thomas 1885 (LKFF-32Q), Edwin Daniel 1887 (LRFC-ZSC), Martha Magdalena 1889 (LKFF-W11), George Barron Soekoe 1891 (LKFF-HWR), Petronella Egbertha 1893 (LKFF-C6B), William Deacon 1895 (GD3N-D4J). THIS GENERATION IS KAROO, NOT COASTAL, and it corrects the first reading of this family. Graaff-Reinet 1872 is inland, about 200 km north-east of Prince Albert; the Mossel Bay and Strand marriages that made the family look coastal are his son's and grandson's, in 1908 and 1950. The family moved TO the coast, it did not come from there. NOT A CLAIMED KINSHIP: LEAD-0125.
[2 Sep 2026] POSSIBLY A SON OF JOSEPH KLUE (1817-1896, FamilySearch L5PF-86C) BY AN EARLIER MARRIAGE, which would make him a half-brother of the twelve children of Joseph and Jacoba Johanna Margaretha Ferreira, among them JOHANNES DIEDERIK KLEU of De Rust (1869-1940, MTP1-F92). The claim comes from WikiTree; FamilySearch's own child list for Joseph Klue does not carry him. NOT ASSUMED. [TO VERIFY] LEAD-0332.
[SRC-614, 2 Sep 2026] THERE ARE AT LEAST THREE PIETER EGBERT KLUES IN THIS COUNTRY: this row born 1852, one born 25 April 1832 who died at Diepkloof on the Kammanassie in 1894, and that man's son born 10 August 1868 at Jansenville. The half-brother claim on WikiTree names a Pieter Egbertus without dates and cannot be attached to any of the three on the name alone.

Frans holds a painting of MEIRINGSPOORT by ARTHUR LIONEL KLEU (1915-2008), a shopkeeper, inherited from his grandfather. Middelwater carries the werf name KLUEPLAAS. Are they one family, and are Kleu and Klue one surname?
