Navorsingsnotas

[TREE] Added 29 Jul 2026 under the people-related-to-the-land rule, via her father Cornelis Andries OosthuizenL (b.1825), PER-000128, who is on Frans's direct line - she is his great-great-aunt.

[31 Jul 2026 SRC-142] BIRTH CORRECTED, 1870 -> 14 December 1868, baptised Beaufort 14 March 1869. WE were the stale party, not FamilySearch: the change log shows 1870 entered 24 Sep 2020 and corrected to 14 Dec 1868 on 23 Oct 2024 with this register attached. Our family-tree record was created 4 Dec 2022, never modified since, and exported 31 May 2026 still carrying 1870. The register names her parents as Cornelis Andries OosthuysenM and Magdalena Maria van WykM, matching PER-000128 x PER-000129 already in this model - so the parentage moves from [TREE]/medium to documented.

[31 Jul 2026] DEATH DATE WITHDRAWN, and the FamilySearch change log shows exactly how it was manufactured. On 24 September 2020 one editor, in a single session, attached a probate record, created a custom event 'Probate, FROM 1976 TO 1979', and changed the death from blank to '6 Apr' and then to '6 April 1976'. A probate date range became a death date. Two further checks: her husband Michiel Josias BotesH (PER-000491) died in 1947, and her son Andrew Oosthuizen BotesM died 22 July 1976 - an estate running 1976-1979 fits HIS file, and it names her as his mother. Born 14 Dec 1868 she would have been 107. Death is now UNKNOWN rather than wrong. She still publishes on route 2, born before 1936. See LEAD-0020.

[31 Jul 2026, later] The withdrawn death date was ACCIDENTALLY REFILLED from the tree by kin_sweep --fill-names and is withdrawn again. checks.py caught it within the minute (age 108 at death). fill_names now skips any row carrying a correction annotation: a field emptied on purpose is indistinguishable from one nobody has reached, and 'never overwrite' does not protect a deliberate blank.

These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
