Nortier is the Wanhoop surname: the 1811-16 George rolls show Wanhoop passing out of Jacobus Johannes Oosthuizen's hands to 'Wed:e Ant:e NORTJE' and 'Anthony Nortje Jr' (SRC-525, LEAD-0270), and the only Nortje this project holds is Maria Nortje (PER-000784, 1724-1768), grandmother of David Jan Strydom who was granted Rondabel. Van Tonder is the Modderfonteyn matriarch's name. | So this is the right district and the right names, a century later, with no join yet. Nothing is claimed from that - a surname is not a person - but it is the ground to re-run this check on when the du Plessis or Nortje lines are worked.
